Eastman AR805 Goldburst
Crafted with solid, hand-carved tonewoods, Eastman’s AR805 harkens back to the pre-electric days of jazz guitar’s earliest era. This acoustic archtop features a solid, hand-carved spruce top paired with a solid maple back and sides — the de facto standard tonewood arrangement of acoustic archtops for more than a century, prized for its crisp voice, superior projection, and midrange-focused bark. Wrapped up in a traditional 16-inch archtop form, the AR805 is purpose-made to rise above the band with its room-filling projection and cutting character. Next, an ebony-topped maple neck in Eastman’s medium-sized Traditional Even C profile offers a comfortable platform for driving swing band rhythms, rapid-fire single-note lines, and everything in between. An elegant ebony bridge/saddle and tailpiece slightly smooth over this archtop’s tone while offering a cohesive visual complement to the golden Gotoh tuners’ ebony buttons. Equipped with all the fineries you’d expect from a jazz-age creation — including regal 7-ply binding, gleaming pearl inlays, and beautifully bound F-holes — the Eastman AR805 proves that the art of the acoustic archtop is still going strong in the 21st century.
